Austria requires a motorway vignette for most motorways and expressways. It is normally included with an Austrian-registered rental car, but clients should confirm this when collecting the vehicle. Certain Alpine roads and tunnels carry additional tolls.

Winter tyres are compulsory in winter conditions between 1 November and 15 April. Mountain roads can also be affected by changing weather outside the main winter period.

Hallstatt has limited accommodation and parking. Depending on availability, the hotel may be offered in Hallstatt, Obertraun, Bad Goisern or elsewhere in the surrounding Salzkammergut region.
